Here Amanda shares her experience with us….
“The Machu Picchu trip with Youngcare could be described as a once in a lifetime event, that words cannot describe. 13 Young Adventures embarked on a 4 day trek from Cusco to Machu Picchu.
The trek was the most grueling experience I have ever put my body through. We took on The Moonstone trek, which reached the height of 4800 metres. Despite being relatively healthy and fit, every step that you took was a massive challenge and learning how to breathe in those conditions is extremely important. Finally reaching Machu Picchu after the trek was definitely one of the best feelings!
The trek also saw stories from each of the 13 trekkers shared as to why we were participating in the trek. The stories ranged from some of the trekkers being personally affected, with one of the trekkers Aunties having being diagnosed with MS even though she was only in her 40′s. These stories really touched home and united us all on the trek. It makes the $91,919 raised for Youngcare seem so little yet so much for such a worthy cause.
The best part of the trip was travelling with like-minded people. I would encourage anyone who has the opportunity to participate in one of the challenges to get out there and give it a go as it is the most rewarding experience.
I would just like to finish with a massive THANK YOU to all the Flight Centre employees who generously donated and helped me raise $5888.30! ”
Thank you so much to all who gave to help Amanda reach her target – buying raffle tickets, sausages, you name it! It all added up to make a huge difference for those young people Youngcare helps – $91,919 worth of difference!
